Ami Scherson

Ami (ah-mee) Scherson (she/her/hers) is a Queens, NY based arts administrator, musician, and facilitator. She is currently the Audience and Donor Data Manager at National Sawdust. Prior to joining the organization, she worked at Americans for the Arts and Arts Business Collaborative to develop and implement programs that supported and elevated the voices of BIPOC arts leaders. Ami is committed to creating equitable and inclusive arts spaces through her professional and personal work. She co-chaired the 2021 Dance/NYC Junior Committee, a proactive committee of emerging leaders in the dance and nonprofit community by initiating projects in research, advocacy, and career development in New York City. In addition, she was a participant of the 2021-2022 cohort for the Morgridge Acceleration Program (MAP) fellowship, where she was paired with the Baucus Institute at the University of Montana to develop a strategic communications strategy. Ami co-founded mixt collective (@mixt.collective) in 2020, an arts collaborative for mixed identifying individuals to celebrate, elevate, and create amongst mixed race communities, transracial adoptees, third culture kids, and other mixed identity groups. In her freetime, Ami cares for herself by taking dance classes, cooking Japanese food, and taking care of her plants.
